Composition and Pharmacological Properties:
АЛЬБЕН® С per tablet contains active ingredients:
•Albendazole – 250 mg
•Praziquantel – 25 mg
Excipients: lactose, potato starch, flavoring with fresh meat aroma.
The combination of active ingredients provides broad-spectrum action against all stages of development of roundworms and tapeworms in dogs and cats, including Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum, Trichuris vulpis, Echinococcus granulosus, Echinococcus multilocularis, Diphyllobothrium latum, Dipylidium caninum, Multiceps multiceps, Taenia spp., as well as protozoa Giardia spp.
•Albendazole, a benzimidazole carbamate derivative, acts on adult and larval nematodes in the gastrointestinal tract and lungs, as well as adult cestodes. It disrupts microtubule formation, inhibits glucose utilization, ATP synthesis, and movement of organelles in helminth muscle cells, leading to parasite death. It also exerts antiprotazoal effects against Giardia spp. by forming complexes with parasite DNA, causing degradation and death.
•Praziquantel, a pyrazinoisoquinoline compound, acts on adult and immature cestodes. Its mechanism involves tegument disruption, muscle cell depolarization, and energy metabolism disruption, causing paralysis, death, and expulsion from the gastrointestinal tract. It is rapidly absorbed, binds to plasma proteins (70–80%), partially metabolized in the liver, and excreted mainly in urine.
