Composition and Pharmacological Properties:
Each tablet contains the active ingredients: praziquantel – 50 mg and pyrantel pamoate – 150 mg, along with excipients: lactose, potato starch, and a flavoring additive with fresh meat aroma.
The active ingredients provide a broad-spectrum anthelmintic effect against all stages of development of roundworms and tapeworms in dogs, including Toxocara canis, Toxascaris leonina, Uncinaria stenocephala, Ancylostoma caninum, Trichuris vulpis, Echinococcus granulosus, Echinococcus multilocularis, Diphyllobothrium latum, Dipylidium caninum, Multiceps multiceps, and Taenia spp.
Praziquantel – a member of the pyrazinoisoquinoline group, active against gastrointestinal cestodes at all developmental stages. It increases the permeability of parasite cell membranes to calcium ions (Ca²⁺), causing membrane depolarization, muscle contraction, and tegument destruction, leading to parasite death and their elimination from the host. Praziquantel is rapidly absorbed in the gastrointestinal tract, reaching maximum plasma concentration within 60 minutes; it binds to serum proteins (70–80%), is partially metabolized in the liver, excreted back into the intestines, and eliminated mainly through urine (up to 80%) within 24 hours.
Pyrantel pamoate – a member of the pyrimidine group, active against both adult and immature nematodes. Its mechanism involves blocking neuromuscular transmission through sustained depolarization of postsynaptic membranes (cholinergic agonist), disrupting cell membrane permeability, which leads to paralysis and death of parasites. Pyrantel pamoate is poorly absorbed, providing prolonged action against intestinal parasites; it is mostly excreted unchanged in feces (93%).
